Isshinden

Japanese: 一身田 - いしんでん

A former town area in the northern part of Tsu City, central Mie Prefecture. It was incorporated into Tsu City in 1954. It was a post station on the Ise Kaido road, and developed as a temple town of Senju-ji Temple, which was built in 1465 by Shinne, the 10th head priest of the Shinshu Takada sect (→ Takada sect). Senju-ji Temple was originally the central temple for the Tokai and Hokuriku regions, but became the head temple after the main temple in Takada, Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture, burned down. The Goei-do Hall, a nationally designated important cultural property, is a grand Japanese-style building with 725 tatami mats built in 1666 by feudal lord Todo Takatsugu. It houses many cultural properties, including Shinran's original copy of "Sanjo Wasan" (National Treasure).

三重県中部，津市北部の旧町域。1954年津市に編入。伊勢街道の宿駅であり，また寛正6（1465）年，真宗高田派（→高田派）10世の真慧（しんね）が建立した専修寺（せんじゅじ）の寺内町として発達。専修寺は初め東海・北陸方面教化の中心寺院であったが，栃木県真岡市高田にあった本寺が焼失したため，本山となった。国指定重要文化財の御影堂は，寛文6（1666）年，藩主藤堂高次が建てた 725畳敷の壮大な和様建築。親鸞の真筆『三帖和讃』（国宝）を含む多くの文化財を所蔵する。
