Restoration Emperor

...The last dynasty of Vietnam, whose capital was in Hue from 1802 to 1945 (see figure). Also written as Nguyen Dynasty. Since the 17th century, Vietnam had been divided into the Nguyen (Quang Nam) clan in the central and southern part of Vietnam and the Le and Trinh clans in the north. However, the Tay Son Nguyen clan rose to power and overthrew the Nguyen clan in 1777 and the Le and Trinh regimes in 1786, unifying the country (Tay Son Revolution). Nguyen Phuc Anh, a member of the southern Nguyen clan, expanded his territory by fighting against the Tay Son Nguyen clan with the aid of Siam and France from 1778 onwards, and finally occupied the north in 1802, successfully regaining control of the whole country. ...
