Ikoma Raiyu

Japanese: 生駒雷遊 - いこまらいゆう

1895-1964 A narrator and stage actor from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born on April 1, 1895. He studied at Nikkatsu's motion picture narrator training school, and in 1917 he became the head narrator at the Teikoku-kan in Asakusa, Tokyo. He became as popular as Tokugawa Musei. When movies became talkies he turned to light comedy acting, and in 1933 he joined the Kingdom of Laughter with Furukawa Roppa and others, later becoming the leader of the troupe. He passed away on December 2, 1964, at the age of 69. He was from Okayama Prefecture and dropped out of Waseda University. His real name was Etsu.

明治28年4月1日生まれ。日活の活動写真弁士養成所でまなび,大正6年東京浅草帝国館の主任弁士となる。徳川夢声とならぶ人気をえる。映画のトーキー化で軽演劇の俳優に転じ,昭和8年古川緑波(ろっぱ)らの笑の王国に参加,のち座長。昭和39年12月2日死去。69歳。岡山県出身。早大中退。本名は悦。
