Toukisei - Toukisei

Chinese economic historian and politician. His real name was Yizen, and his pen name was Xisheng. He was from Huanggang County, Hubei Province. He graduated from Beijing University in 1922, and was a professor there from 1931 to 1937. He was active in the debate on Chinese social history from 1929 to 1930, and in 1934 he founded the semi-monthly magazine "Food", and made a great contribution to the study of social and economic history. In 1939, during the Second Sino-Japanese War, he escaped from Chongqing with Wang Jingwei (Wang Jingwei), but the following year, in 1940, he fled to Hong Kong with Gao Zongwu and exposed the Japan-Wang secret agreement. He then moved to Chongqing, and as secretary to Chiang Kai-shek, he drafted "The Fate of China". He was editor-in-chief of the Kuomintang's newspaper, the Central Daily Newspaper, from 1943 to 1952. In 1949 he moved to Taiwan and held important posts in the party and government, but retired in 1968. His major works include "Historical Analysis of Chinese Society," "History of Chinese Political Thought," "Collection of Essays," and "Collection of Essays by Professor Tao Hsi-sheng."

中国の経済史家、政治家。本名は彙曽(いそう)。希聖は字(あざな)。湖北省黄岡(こうこう)県の人。1922年北京(ペキン)大学卒業、1931～1937年同大学教授。1929～1930年の中国社会史論戦において活躍し、1934年『食貨』半月刊誌を創刊、社会経済史の研究で功績をあげた。日中戦争中の1939年汪精衛(おうせいえい)（汪兆銘(おうちょうめい)）に従い重慶(じゅうけい)から脱出したが、翌1940年高宗武(こうそうぶ)とともに香港(ホンコン)に逃れ日汪秘密協定を暴露した。ついで重慶に移り、蒋介石(しょうかいせき)の秘書として『中国の命運』を起草した。1943～1952年国民党機関紙『中央日報』主筆。1949年台湾に移り党政の要職につくが、1968年引退した。主著として『中国社会の史的分析』『中国政治思想史』『論道集』『陶希聖先生八秩栄慶論文集』などがある。
