Atypical scarlet fever

Japanese: 異型猩紅熱 - いけいしょうこうねつ

It is also called Izumi fever after the first person to report it, Izumi Sensuke. It is said to be an acute infectious disease caused by a virus, but there are many unknowns about the pathogen. It affects children and young people of school age or older in the spring and fall, and causes a scarlet fever-like rash, high fever for 2 to 3 weeks, and digestive symptoms such as right lower abdominal pain and diarrhea during the high fever period. It heals naturally, but achromycin and other drugs are somewhat effective.

最初の報告者泉仙助の名を冠して泉熱ともいう。ウイルスによる急性伝染病とされるが，病原体に関しては不明の点が多い。春・秋に学齢以上の小児や青年を冒し，猩紅熱様発疹，２〜３週間の高熱，高熱期に右下腹部痛や下痢などの消化器症状が見られる。自然治癒するが，アクロマイシンなども若干は有効。
