Japanese: 実業教育 - じつぎょうきょういく

A general term for education for people working in various industries. This term was mainly used before World War II and corresponds to the current term industrial education. It usually refers to industrial and technical education in schools, such as agriculture, manufacturing, commerce, transportation and communication, and fisheries. Before World War II, schools that provided vocational education included vocational supplementary schools, apprenticeship schools, vocational schools, and vocational colleges. Inoue Tsuyoshi particularly focused on the importance of vocational education, and during his term as Minister of Education, he established regulations for vocational supplementary schools and apprenticeship schools, and in 1894 he promulgated the Act on National Treasury Subsidies for Vocational Education Expenses, which provided for the provision of national subsidies to vocational schools, promoting vocational education.

各種の産業に従事する者のための教育の総称。この用語は主として第2次世界大戦前に使用され，現在の産業教育にあたる。普通は学校内で行われる農業，工業，商業，運輸通信，水産などの産業技術教育をさす。第2次世界大戦前には，実業教育を施す学校として実業補習学校，徒弟学校，実業学校，実業専門学校などが設けられていた。井上毅は特に実業教育の重要性に着目し，文相在任中に実業補習学校規定，徒弟学校規定を制定したほか，1894年には実業教育費国庫補助法を公布して実業学校に国庫補助金を交付することを定め実業教育の振興をはかった。
