A mountain range in the western United States that runs north to south parallel to the Rocky Mountains. It is the northern continuation of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and its northern end extends into Canada. It is about 1,100 km long. Its highest peak is Mount Rainier. It includes Lassen Volcanic National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, and Crater Lake National Park. It is crossed by the Cascade Tunnel (12.6 km) and other roads.
