Ion pair - Ion pair

[ I ] When cations and anions come together in a solution due to electrostatic forces and form pairs. Ion pairs are also formed when either the cation or anion, or both, are complex ions. For example, {[Co(NH ₃ ) ₆ ]･SO ₄ } ⁺ . It is an important chemical species as a reaction intermediate in a solution, and in the anation reaction of transition metal complexes in particular, it is believed that first the complex and the anion form an ion pair, then the water molecule coordinated to the metal atom dissociates and the anion that formed the ion pair coordinates to the metal atom. [ II ] When an electron donor and electron acceptor meet in a solution and form a complex, electrons are transferred, creating a state in which a cation and anion are bonded; this is called an ion pair. When it is formed inside the cage of the solvent, it is called a geminate ion pair.

【Ⅰ】溶液中で，陽イオンと陰イオンとが静電力によって集まり，対をつくること．陽イオンまたは陰イオンのどちらか，または両方が，錯イオンである場合もイオン対をつくるという．たとえば，{[Co(NH₃)₆]･SO₄}^＋．溶液中の反応中間体として重要な意味をもつ化学種で，とくに遷移金属錯体のアネーション反応では，まず錯体と陰イオンがイオン対をつくり，それから金属原子に配位している水分子が解離し，イオン対をつくっていた陰イオンが金属原子に配位するとされている．【Ⅱ】溶液中で電子供与体と電子受容体が出合い錯体をつくり，電子移動が起こり，陽イオンと陰イオンが結合した状態ができるが，これをイオン対という．溶媒のかごのなかに形成されるとき，ジェミネートイオン対(geminate ion pair)という．
