A city in western Aichi Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1970. It is located at the northern end of the Chita Hills, with the Aichi Irrigation Canal flowing through the eastern part of the city. It borders the southeast of Nagoya City, and is the junction of the Tokaido Main Line and the Taketoyo Line. Urban agriculture, such as peaches, grapes, and greenhouse horticulture, is practiced in the city. Industries such as transportation equipment and metals are developing. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in residential development. 33.66 km2 . Population: 85,249 (2010).
