Founder of the Đinh Dynasty (968-980), Vietnam's first independent dynasty. Also known as Dinh Tien Hoang (the Former Emperor of Đinh). Born the son of a local lord in Hoa Lu, northwest of Ninh Binh in northern Vietnam. After the collapse of the Ngō regime, various Su Quan (envoys) were stationed in various parts of the north, creating a state of civil war. Using water transport in the lower reaches of the Song Khoi (Red River) delta, he defeated the Su Quan one after another, unifying the country in 968 (although some say in 966), establishing his capital in Hoa Lu, and proclaiming himself Emperor Dai Thanh Minh (Great Victory Ming) and his country Dai Co Viet (Great Quet).

ベトナム最初の独立王朝ディン(丁)朝(968‐980)の建設者。ディン･ティエンホアンDinh Tien Hoang(丁先皇)としても知られる。ベトナム北部ニンビン北西のホアルの土豪の子として生まれた。ゴ(呉)政権の崩壊後，北部各地にスークアン(使君)が割拠して内乱状況となったとき，ソンコイ川(紅河)デルタ下流部の水運に基礎をおいて各地のスークアンを次々に倒し，968(一説に966)年天下を統一，ホアルに都を建て，自らをダイタンミン(大勝明)皇帝，国号をダイコベト(大瞿越)と称した。
