…This is a tradition that was formed for the purpose of preaching the gospel of Christ (in Greek, kerygma) based on the confession of faith that "God raised Jesus from the dead" and "Jesus is Lord" (Romans 10:9), which is mainly premised on Paul's letters. It can be divided into (a) Jewish traditions that see Christ's death as the forgiveness of human sins and his death and resurrection as the fulfillment of prophecy in the Old Testament (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), and (b) Hellenistic traditions that see Christ's death as the ultimate obedience to God of the "Son of God" who was with God, and therefore Christ was raised up to heaven as "Lord" by God (Philippians 2:6-11). (2) Jesus tradition. This is a tradition concerning (a) Jesus' deeds (mainly his miraculous acts) and (b) his words, and (a) is gradually incorporated into (b) and given an eschatological interpretation. *Some of the terminology that refers to the "Jesus tradition" is listed below.
