Ando ware - Ando yaki

...After Rozan's death, the kiln seems to have continued for several decades, but it is believed to have been abandoned by the Bunka era (1804-18). However, potter Ryosuke, who had split off from Kobanko kiln, started making Ando ware in Tsu, and Mori Yogozaemon Ariseki of Kuwana built the Ariseki Banko kiln in Komukai in 1831 (Tenpo 2), and in 1856 Takekawa Chikusai built the Izawa Banko kiln in Izawa, Matsusaka City, reviving the Banko kilns. In the early Meiji era, Ariseki Banko was introduced and Yokkaichi Banko was opened, where unglazed red clay teapots and other items were fired. ...
