Japanese: 何焯 - かしゃく（英語表記）Hé Zhuō

1661‐1722
A Chinese scholar of the early Qing dynasty. His pen name was Qi Zhan and his pen name was Yimen. He was from Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. He inherited the method of seeking truth from Wang Yinglin of the Song dynasty and Feng Ban of the early Qing dynasty, and worked as an editor for the Hanlin Academy, collating and publishing classics and official histories. While competing with Fang Bao of the Tongcheng school, he played a part in the later flourishing of historical research. His main work, Yimen Reading Record, provides word-for-word criticism not only of classics and official histories, but also of Wen Xuan, and the poetry and prose of Tao Qian, Du Fu, Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Li Shangyin, Ouyang Xiu, and Zeng Gong.

中国，清代前期の学者。字は屺瞻（きせん），号は義門。江蘇省長州の人。宋の王応麟，清初の馮班（ふうはん）の実事求是の方法を受け継いだ文献学によって，翰林院編修として経書，正史の校刊に従事し，桐城派の方苞（ほうほう）と対抗しながら，のちの考証学全盛への一端をになった。主著《義門読書記》は，経書，正史のみならず，《文選》，陶潜，杜甫，韓愈，柳宗元，李商隠，欧陽修，曾鞏（そうきよう）の詩文にも，字句に即した批評を加える。
