A dense aggregate of calcium-rich amphibole crystals such as actinocene and tremolite. It is also called nephrite. It comes in a variety of colors, including milky white, gray, pale yellow-green, and deep green, and has a translucent waxy feel. Its specific gravity is 2.9 to 3.1, and its Mohs hardness is 6 to 6.5. It has been used as a raw material for crafts and accessories since the Stone Age.
