Gertrud

...It is said that if a sleeping child's mouth is not closed, the child's soul will leave the body as a mouse. There are many legends about mice, including that of Saint Gertrud (whose feast day is March 17th), who is said to protect people from the harm caused by mice. The story of the Mouse Tower in Bingen, Germany, tells of a ruthless bishop who burned the starving masses to death, only to be eaten by an abnormal outbreak of mice.
