Anjogahara

Japanese: 安城ヶ原 - あんじょうがはら

…It is located in the center of the alluvial plateau (Hekikai Plateau) on the northwest bank of the Yahagi River. It was a barren plateau called Anjogahara, but in 1880 the Meiji Irrigation Canal was excavated and it was turned into rice paddy fields. Then in 1891 Anjo Station on the Tokaido Main Line was built in the center of the plateau. Eventually the district office and district police station were moved here from Chiryu Town, and it grew into the center of Hekikai District. …
