Mount Misen

Mount Misen
Itsukushima Island is located in the southwest of Hiroshima Prefecture, and is the highest peak of the island. It is a sacred mountain. It belongs to Hatsukaichi City. Itsukushima Island has an elevation of 535m. The primeval forest of Mt. Misen is designated as a national natural monument. Near the summit are the main hall of Daisho-in Temple, which was once the head temple of Itsukushima Shrine, the Sanki-do Hall, and other buildings. The view of the Seto Inland Sea from the summit is magnificent. A ropeway runs from Momijidani.

Mount Misen

A mountain in the central part of the Omine Mountain Range in southern Nara Prefecture. It is 1,895m above sea level. It is located north of Mt. Hakkensan and its shape is similar to that of Mt. Hakkensan. It is covered in virgin forest and is home to a natural habitat of Magnolia sieboldii (a natural monument). It has long been a key location on the Okugake traverse course of Shugendo. Misen Shrine is located on the summit. It belongs to Yoshino-Kumano National Park.

奈良県南部,大峰山脈中央部にある山。標高 1895m。八剣山の北方に位置し,山容は八剣山に似ている。原生林におおわれ,オオヤマレンゲの自生地 (天然記念物) がある。古くから修験道の奥駈 (おくがけ) 縦走コースの要地。山頂に弥山神社がある。吉野熊野国立公園に属する。
