Mototaka Awaya

...Since Nobukata first entered Obama in 1541 (Kaikitsu 1), the Takeda clan has worked to strengthen its control over its territories, and sought ties with the traditional authority of the Imperial Court and the Shogunate. It frequently traveled to Kyoto to fight in battles such as the Onin War, and demonstrated its military might. However, in 1502 (Bunki 2) during the reign of Motonobu, local lords and peasants opposed the harsh government and attacked the shugo side, resulting in the deaths of Motonobu's son Motonobu and others. In 1527 (Oei 7) during the reign of Genko, they fought on the side of Shogun Yoshiharu and Kanrei Hosokawa Takakuni against Yanagimoto Kenji and Miyoshi Masanaga in the Battle of Nishishichijo Senshoji, and their influence began to decline. In his later years, a rebellion by his senior vassal Awaya Mototaka occurred in the fight for the family succession. His son, Nobutaka, allied with Hatakeyama Masakuni in an army in 1542 (Tenbun 11) and suffered a major defeat at the Battle of Taiheiji in Kawachi Province. After that, he was unable to regain his power, and up until the time of his successor, Yoshimune, he was plagued by invasions by ronin (prisoners) and rebellions by his vassals.
