〘 noun 〙 A light abstinence observed by those who perform religious rites before the true abstinence . Araimi. ※Ryo Gikai (833) Shinto: "When the Emperor ascends to the throne, a general festival is held for the gods of heaven and earth . The abstinence is dispersed in the first month (also called the mid-winter month. It begins from the new moon until the moon falls ) and ends on the third day."
