These stone structures are located at the tomb of Emperor Shomu's Crown Prince Nahoyama in Daikokugashiba, Horen-cho, Nara City. The Nahoyama Tomb has a square burial mound measuring 9m north to south and 6m east to west, and it is said that the statues are buried in the four corners of the stone fence at the top of the mound. There were originally seven of them, and they were sometimes called the Seven Foxes, but the Yamato Meisho Zue describes three stones. The first is a natural stone measuring 1.2m long, 0.9m wide, and 0.9m thick, with a 0.8m tall standing statue of a naked rabbit-headed person carved into it, with the character for "north" above the head. The second is a natural stone measuring 0.8m long, 0.3m wide, and 0.4m thick, with a 0.68m tall seated statue of a naked rabbit-headed person carved into it, with the character for "east" above the head.
