Space reddening

Also known as interstellar reddening. The phenomenon in which the light of distant stars becomes redder than the original light of the stars due to absorption and scattering by interstellar matter. This occurs because blue light, which has a shorter wavelength, is attenuated more than red light. This phenomenon is the same as the redness of the sunrise or sunset. 星間赤化とも。星間物質による吸収や散乱によって，遠くの星の光がもともとの星の光よりも赤くなる現象。波長の短い青い光が赤い光よりも強く減光されるために生じる。現象としては，朝日や夕日が赤くなるのと同じ。
