… In Japan, in the 14th century, Heikyoku became widespread among biwa priests, and a group of biwa priests based in Tsukushi, Akashi, Yasaka in Kyoto, and Bando formed a troupe called Todo, which was unified during the Nanboku-cho period when Kakuichi was active. This Heikyoku troupe had its origin in Amayo-no-mikoto (also known as Prince Saneyasu, son of Emperor Ninmyo or Emperor Koko), who was its ancestor. It gathered at the Shakuto on February 16th and the Suzumito on June 19th, which are associated with the ancestor, to perform rituals.
