Aphrodite's Rebellion

...The "spirits of the land" evoked by his poetic prose create dense exotic landscapes, in which his methodological consciousness of literary experimentation and his insistence on narrative are intertwined. The two-part novella "Tunqu" (1968) and "Nunqu" (1970), collectively known as "Aphrodite's Rebellion," are works intended to develop the same characteristics in a new way. His other works include the novel "The Black Book" (1938), several travelogues about the Mediterranean region, such as "Bitter Lemons" (1959), a book on modern poetry (1952), and a correspondence with Henry Miller (1963).
