Actinic keratosis is an intraepidermal cancer that occurs in chronic sun dermatitis on the face, back of the hands, etc. It is more common in Caucasians, but is rarely seen in elderly Japanese. It is pale pink with scales (dandruff-like skin flakes), and the skin at the edges often atrophies and has dilated capillaries.
