かご【籠】

〘名〙① 竹、つる、柳、針金など線状のもので編んだ器物。こ。※名語記（1275）四「このころ流浪の行人のせなかに負たる籠をかこおひとなつけたり、かこ如何。かはくらの反、こは籠也。蔵籠也」② (遊女を「籠の鳥」ということから) 遊郭や遊女屋をいう。※雑俳・柳多留‐一四（1779）「かごの跡二人(ふたり)で傘を一本さし」
