Japanese: カゴアミカイメン（英語表記）Leucosolenia laxa

Phylum Porifera, Class Calcareous Sponges, Order Isocoelate, Family Acanthoideae. An egg-shaped sponge with a mesh-like structure. 2-3cm in size. The mesh-like structure is created because it is made up of thin tubes. White to yellowish brown in color. There is a pseudo-opening measuring 1-2mm in diameter on the surface. The groove system is the simplest ascon type. The bone fragments are calcareous and consist of tri-, tetra-, or rod-shaped bodies. A common species in shallow waters, found in various places south of Honshu. It has no utility value.

海綿動物門石灰海綿綱等腔目アミカイメン科。全体が網目状になっている卵形のカイメン。大きさは2～3cm。細管で構成されるため全体が網目状になる。色は白色から黄褐色。表面には径1～2mmの偽口が開いている。溝系は最も単純なアスコン型。骨片は石灰質で，三輻体，四輻体，桿状体などからなる。浅海にごく普通の種で，本州以南の各地に分布する。利用価値はない。
