In addition to Lewis and Pound, other participants in the movement included painters Edward Alexander Wadsworth (1889-1949), William Roberts (1895-1980), Laurence Atkinson (1873-1931), and sculptor J. Epstein. They learned from the movement of Futurism and the geometric forms of Cubism, but rejected the impressionistic character of the former and the classical orientation of the latter, pioneering forms with a strong abstraction.
