...The geology is mostly Mesozoic, Palaeozoic and granite, but in the Hizen Mountains, a plateau of basalt about 300m thick on the Tertiary layer is formed. The elevation is mostly around 1000m, but the highest elevation in the Kiku Mountains in the east is 598m (Adachiyama), and in the Hizen Mountains in the west is 777m (Kunimiyama). From the Kiku Mountains to the Sefuri Mountains, three eroded flat areas have been formed at elevations of about 1000m, 500m and 300m, indicating that there have been three intermittent land uplifts. ...
