International Bureau of Weights and Measures

An international organization established in Sèvres, a suburb of Paris, based on the Metre Convention. In the official text of the treaty, it is called the International Central Bureau of Weights and Measures. Under the direction and supervision of the International Committee for Weights and Measures, it is responsible for the storage and comparative measurement of the international prototype, comparison of the international prototype with prototypes issued to each country and those used in each country, various measurements, determination of physical constants, and integration of various decisions made in other academic circles.
