A test to diagnose lung diseases such as pulmonary tuberculosis and lung cancer. Although the amount, color, and odor can also be used as references, tests for bacteria in sputum and confirmation of tumor cells are usually performed. In the case of bacterial tests, culture tests may be used. In cases where sputum cannot be obtained due to pulmonary tuberculosis, throat fluid or gastric juice may be collected to replace sputum.
