Ashida

A district of Tateshina Town, Kitasaku County, Nagano Prefecture. Formerly known as Ashida Village. National Route 142 and the old Nakasendo Road run parallel or overlap, running from east to west. Located at the northern foot of Mt. Tateshina, it is the central settlement of Tateshina Town. It was newly established as Ashida-juku on the Nakasendo Road during the Keicho era (1596-1615), and part of the main inn building still remains today. It is a town for everyday shopping in the outlying area, and the famous Kasatori Pass is nearby.

長野県北佐久(さく)郡立科町(たてしなまち)の一地区。旧芦田村。国道142号と旧中山道が併行し、あるいは重なって東西に抜けている。蓼科(たてしな)山北麓(ろく)にあり、立科町の中心集落。中山道(なかせんどう)芦田宿として慶長(けいちょう)年間（1596～1615）に新設、現在も本陣の建物の一部が残っている。周辺部の日常買物町をなし、近くに笠取峠(かさとりとうげ)の名所がある。
