Nagaharu Asano

Nagaharu Asano
1614-1675 A daimyo in the early Edo period.
Born on March 26, 1614. Son of Asano Nagaakira. In 1636, his father's estate of Hiroshima Domain in Aki was inherited by his eldest son and younger brother Mitsuakira, and Nagaharu was given 50,000 koku of land, becoming the first head of the Asano clan to rule the branch domain of Miyoshi Domain in Bingo (Hiroshima Prefecture). He worked on flood control and industrial development, and fostered famous local products such as Miyoshi cormorant fishing, Bingo tatami mats, and Miyoshi dolls. He died on January 19, 1670, at the age of 62.

慶長19年3月26日生まれ。浅野長晟(ながあきら)の子。寛永9年父の遺領安芸(あき)広島藩を嫡子の弟光晟(みつあきら)がつぎ,長治は5万石を分与され,支藩備後(びんご)(広島県)三次(みよし)藩主浅野家初代となる。治水・殖産につとめ,三次の鵜(う)飼い,備後畳表,三次人形などの名物・名産をおこさせた。延宝3年1月19日死去。62歳。
