〘Noun〙 ("Koraku" is a Chinese fence made from roughly split bamboo. The characters are adapted from the original) 1. A fence made by joining bamboo in a cross pattern and tying it together with rope. Also a fence or wall made by roughly weaving bamboo with its branches cut off to enclose a house. Bamboo garrison. *Shiji Sho (1477), vol. 13 "The corridor makes both sides of the path like a tube, with the bamboo garrison attached." 2. A device made by lining up bamboo with branches attached to it to dry things. A high-rise structure especially used in the drying area of indigo dye shops. *Haiku Ruifunshu (1676), added "At the gate of the indigo dye shop, a garrison is set up."

〘名〙 (「虎落」は、中国で粗い割り竹を組んで作った垣のこと。用字はその転用)① 竹を筋違いに組み合わせ、縄で結い固めた柵。また、枝を落とした竹を粗く編み合わせて家の囲いとした垣根や塀など。竹もがり。※史記抄（1477）一三「甬道は道の両方をもかりのやうにして筒の如にするぞ」② 枝のついた竹などを立て並べ、物を干すのに用いるもの。特に紺屋で紺掻きなどの干し場に高く作った設備。※俳諧・類船集（1676）加「紺掻(こんかき)の門にはもがりを立る也」
