Former Evil Exemption - Kyuakumenjo

Japanese:
Former Evil Exemption - Kyuakumenjo
A system found in the Edo Shogunate's "Kujikata Osadamegaki." Old misdeeds are generally defined as old crimes, but are equivalent to the current statute of limitations for public prosecutions. In the Edo Shogunate, except for crimes punishable by death or more, or those punishable by death for life, if more than 12 months had passed and the crime was not related to other crimes, it was called an old crime and would not be punished.
