〘Noun〙 (also "Anukuma") 1. A mammal of the Mustelidae family. In some regions it is confused with the raccoon dog (Canidae) and called Mujina. Widely distributed across Eurasia, in Japan it lives in holes in the forests of Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. It is nocturnal and omnivorous. It is 70-80cm long and has thick limbs. Its claws are long and sturdy, adapted for digging holes. Its back is brown and marbled, and its belly and limbs are black-brown. It uses its fur and meat. Digging holes. Sasaguma. Mami. Tanuki.
