…In horticulture, Melastoma species are classified into two genus, Melastoma and Tibouchina , of the Melastomataceae family, and these two genera are often confused and called Melastoma. The Melastoma genus is found in tropical Asia and Australia, with about 40 species, and the fruit is a berry.
