Keitaro Akizuki

Japanese: 秋月桂太郎 - あきづきけいたろう

1871-1916 A stage actor from the Meiji to Taisho era.
Born on February 12, 1871. He turned from a bank clerk to an actor, making his debut at the Tsutaza Theater in Yokohama in 1893. In 1900, he formed the second Seibi-dan with Takada Minoru and others at the Asahiza Theater in Osaka. Together with Kitamura Rokuro and others, he pioneered the heyday of the Kansai Shinpa school. His best roles included Hazama Kan'ichi in "Konjiki Yasha." He passed away on January 19, 1916. He was 46 years old. He was from Owari (Aichi Prefecture). His real name was Nagata Hideo.

明治4年2月12日生まれ。銀行員から俳優に転じ,明治26年横浜蔦(つた)座で初舞台。33年大阪朝日座で高田実らと第2次成美団を結成。喜多村緑郎らと関西新派の隆盛時代をきずいた。当たり役は「金色夜叉(こんじきやしゃ)」の間(はざま)貫一など。大正5年1月19日死去。46歳。尾張(おわり)(愛知県)出身。本名は永田秀雄。
