Yusuke Akamatsu

…Around 1697 (Genroku 10), at the same time as Akamatsu Bairyu of Naniwa, Akamatsu Seiryuken established a lecture hall in Sakaimachi, Edo, covered with bamboo mats, and lectured on military affairs under the name of Hara Masamoto. He read the Taiheiki and achieved great fame. He is well known as a lecturer in Edo, along with Nawa Seizaemon (Akamatsu Seizaemon), but he was originally a local samurai from Miki, Banshu, and his real name was Akamatsu Yusuke. Although his biography is unknown, there is no doubt that he was a member of the Akamatsu clan. After the Genroku period, lectures became increasingly popular as a form of storytelling. …

…1697年(元禄10)ごろに浪花の赤松梅竜と時を同じくして江戸の堺町によしず張りの講席を設け，原昌元と名のって軍談を講じ，《太平記》を読んで大いに名を挙げたのが赤松青竜軒である。彼は名和清左衛門(赤松清左衛門)とともに江戸の講釈師として著名であるが，もともと播州三木の郷士で，本名を赤松祐輔といい，伝記は不詳だが赤松一族であることはまちがいない。元禄以後，講釈はいよいよ話芸として盛んになっていった。…
