[Born] 1516 [Died] 1581 The third king of the Taungoo dynasty in Burma (reigned 1551-81). Also called Braginoco. Brother-in-law of the previous king, Tabinshweti, he ruled over Pegu (Bago) in the south, Aba and Shwebo in the north, Chiang Mai in the east, and Laos. He also occupied the Thai capital of Ayutthaya (1564, 1569) and paid tribute to the Ming through Yunnan. He worked hard to build pagodas and temples, and compiled the Dhamma That (a code of customary law).
