[raw]? [Died] 1360, Anhui, Zhishi. One of the warlords of the late Yuan Dynasty. A native of Luotian (Hubei Province). Also known as Zhenyi. Originally a cotton cloth merchant. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, he rebelled with the evil monk Peng Yingyu and others, taking the name Red Turbans (→ Red Turban Army). In 1351, he captured Qishui (Hubei) and proclaimed himself emperor. He named his country Tianwan and Zhiping as his new emperor. He captured various parts of Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi, and was powerful for a time, but was later killed by his subordinate Chen Youliang.
