Born on April 17, 1902. He studied under Takahashi Kenji of the Tokyo Imperial Museum and conducted excavation surveys of ruins, mainly on the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture. He researched pottery styles from the early Jomon period and cave burial mounds. He passed away on March 11, 1991, at the age of 88.
