...It occupies the lowlands on the north bank of the middle reaches of the Tone River, and is located to the south of the foot of Mount Akagi. In the Middle Ages, it was called Akaishi-go, but in 1566 (Eiroku 9), the Yura clan donated their annual tax from this area to Ise Shrine, and it is said that the area was called Isesaki, and later changed to Isesaki. In the early modern period, it was a castle town of the Sakai clan, with a stipend of 20,000 koku, and on the market days of January and the 6th, it was bustling with trade in daily necessities, raw silk, and textiles.
