Born on August 5, 1720. Son of Aoyama Yoshihide. In 1770, he became the second head of the Aoyama clan, lord of Miyazu Domain in Tango (Kyoto Prefecture). In 1771, he was transferred to Hachiman, Mino (Gifu Prefecture), with a fief of 48,000 koku, and became the first head of the Aoyama clan to be the head of that domain.
