...He began writing literary critiques in the Yomiuri Shimbun and other publications, compiling them as "Literary Mudabanashi" (1910), and was recognized first as a critic, but in 1910 he also established himself as a novelist with the publication of "Letters to an Ex-Wife." After publishing sequels to this work, "Obsession" and "Suspicion" (both 1913), he published works depicting his love lives with prostitutes in Osaka and Kyoto, such as "Green Grass" (1914) and "Black Hair" (1922), which demonstrated the pinnacle of erotic literature, but after marrying Inose Ichi in 1922 and having a child, he quit the love life and published works such as "For the Love of a Child" (1924). Other works by Akiue include love stories such as "Maizuru Shinju" (1915) and social and historical novels such as "Nosonkoyuki" (1926) and "Mizuno Echizen no Kami" (1931), but the true strength of Akiue's literature is, needless to say, in his personal novels depicting the life of passion.
