Tsurumi [town] - Tsurumi

Japanese: 鶴見[町] - つるみ

A former town in Minamiamabe County in the southeast of Oita Prefecture. It includes the northern side of the Tsurumi Peninsula and Oshima Island, and small semi-agricultural, semi-fishing settlements are dotted around the inlets of the submerged coast. It is one of the prefecture's leading fisheries, producing sardines, mackerel, and yellowtail, and citrus cultivation is thriving. Tsurumisaki, the easternmost point of Kyushu, and its surrounding areas are scenic spots. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Saiki City along with Kamiura Town, Yayoi Town, Ume Town, Kamame Town, Honjo Village, Naokawa Village, and Yonemizu Village in Minamiamabe County. ^{20.21 km2} . 4,194 people (2003).

大分県南東部，南海部(みなみあまべ)郡の旧町。鶴見半島北側と大島などを含み，沈降海岸の入江に半農半漁の小集落が点在。イワシ，サバ，ブリなど県下有数の漁獲高をあげ，柑橘(かんきつ)栽培が盛ん。九州最東端の鶴御崎とその周辺は景勝地。2005年３月南海部郡上浦町，弥生町，宇目町，蒲江町，本匠村，直川村，米水津村と佐伯市へ編入。20.21km²。4194人（2003）。
