Aikawa prefecture

...The following year, in 1869, Echigo Prefecture was re-established and annexed Kashiwazaki Prefecture, and Niigata Prefecture was renamed Niigata Prefecture and took jurisdiction over only the Niigata area. However, in the same year, Echigo Prefecture and Niigata Prefecture merged to form Suibara Prefecture, and Sado Prefecture (which was renamed Aikawa Prefecture in 1871) was separated, followed by Kashiwazaki Prefecture (which had jurisdiction over five counties in the southern part of Echigo). In 1870, Suibara Prefecture was abolished and Niigata Prefecture was re-established, and then Kashiwazaki Prefecture annexed Nagaoka Domain, and Mineyama Domain was renamed Mineoka Domain.
