Zille, H. (English spelling) ZilleH

[Imperial capital of the German Empire]
During the German Empire (1871-1918), Berlin strengthened its imperial character as an imperial capital by strengthening its bureaucratic and military institutions, while also attracting many talented people in the fields of culture and science. In the literary world, there were Fontane, Hauptmann, the painter Menzel, Heinrich Zille (1858-1929) and K. Kolbitz, who continued to paint pictures of the lives of ordinary people in Berlin, scientists such as Virchow and Koch in medicine, Planck and Einstein in physics, and entrepreneurs such as Siemens and Rathenau. At the same time, Berlin also developed as an industrial city, adding electrical engineering, chemical engineering, publishing, and other industries to its traditional industrial sectors, and continuing to develop as Germany's central financial city, with a population of about 960,000 in 1875 reaching 2.07 million by 1910.
