…It flows west from the northern Tatry Mountains to the Žilina Basin, then turns southwest and south to join the Danube near Komárno. The river basin is the most important industrial area in Slovakia, with mechanical engineering in the middle reaches of Trenčín, Dubnica nad Váhom and Považská Bystrica, and woodworking, chemical, textile and mechanical engineering in the upper reaches of Žilina, Martin and Ružomberok.
