Shimokawabe Yukihira
Years of birth: Years of birth and death unknown. A military commander from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of the Kamakura period. Shoji of Shimokobe Manor in Shimousa Province (Koga City and other areas). A descendant of Fujiwara no Hidesato. Son of Yukiyoshi. In 1180, he informed Minamoto no Yoritomo of the uprising of Emperor Mochihito and Minamoto no Yorimasa, and participated in Yoritomo's uprising. He was granted the title of Shimokobe Manor for his military achievements. He became a powerful vassal thereafter. He was highly trusted by Yoritomo, and in 1181, he was chosen as one of the attendants near Yoritomo's bedroom, and during the construction of the Tsuruoka Wakamiya Palace, he captured a man who had attempted to assassinate Yoritomo, and was exempted from paying horse tribute for this achievement. He displayed his bravery in the pursuit of the Heike clan and the Oshu Wars. He excelled in archery, and served as an archer on many occasions in Yabusame, Yumihajime, and deer hunting, and later became Yoriie's archery instructor. In 1195, they were considered to be subordinate to the Minamoto clan, but their actions after the Hatakeyama Shigetada Rebellion (1205) are unclear.

平安末・鎌倉前期の武将。下総国下河辺荘(古河市ほか)の荘司。藤原秀郷の子孫。行義の子。治承4(1180)年,以仁王と源頼政の挙兵を源頼朝に伝え,頼朝の挙兵に参加。その軍功で下河辺荘を安堵。以後有力御家人となった。頼朝の信任が厚く,養和1(1181)年,頼朝の寝所近辺祗候衆のひとりに選ばれ,鶴岡若宮上棟の際には頼朝の命を狙った男を捕らえ,その功により貢馬を免除された。平家追討・奥州合戦では,その武勇を示した。弓芸に秀で,流鏑馬・弓始・鹿狩りなどで何度も射手を勤め,のち頼家の弓の師範となった。建久6(1195)年,源家門葉に準ぜられたが,畠山重忠の乱(1205)以後の動向は不明である。
