Kamiyamago

...It is located in the upper reaches of the Shimanto River, and its northwestern end borders Ehime Prefecture. The area from this town to the west of Towa Village was once called Kamiyamago, and is said to have been developed by the Tanabe clan, their descendants, and the Kumano Shrine, which was enshrined by the clan, and Goshoji Temple, which was said to be the family temple, are located in Tanono, the central settlement. The Shimanto River (Niida River) flowing west and the Yusuhara River flowing south join in Tanono.
